My family and I didn't have a relationship with God until the day I met an enthusiastic team of Christians in the Media, heard the gospel preached clearly and responded in prayer.
It was by the invitation of a friend that I started taking my two youngest children to Children’s Church at the Forster-Tuncurry Presbyterian Church. After a few weeks they had settled in enough that I could leave them with their friends and go into church and listen to a talk.
A team from Christians in the Media were visiting. Though I don’t remember who preached the sermon, I do remember the enthusiasm of the team of mostly young people. I thought it was great that they had given up their time to come and run a week-long program at the church.
On that day I heard the message, responded to an invitational prayer and put my trust in Jesus. My family continues to attend that same church and I have been growing as a Christian ever since.
There have been joys and challenges in my Christian journey. It was a great joy to take my Dad to a course at our church about exploring a relationship with Jesus and to be with him as he became a Christian at the age of 77. Dad died a year later and I am looking forward to seeing him in heaven.
I have been serving in areas of women’s and children’s ministry and it has been exciting to explore the gifts God has given me. It has at times been a challenge during the past 18 months without a permanent minister at our church - but I have seen God at work, sustaining His church in amazing ways during this period.
July 2007 will bring with it an exciting change at our church – we will welcome Jason Summers as our Pastor. I am looking forward to a time of building our church family and extending the Gospel to those in our local community.
The Christians in the Media mission to Forster has made an eternal difference in my life. I don’t know if I was the only person that became a Christian that week. I do know that as I love and pray for my family as a Christian wife and mother, and as I give a talk or teach a lesson at Children’s Church, I pray that I can make the same eternal difference in their lives too. |
