What difference does training make?
Key to the Introducing God experience is creating an environment
where our guests feel safe to agree and disagree. Introducing God is
not just a series of talks - it is an experience where people in a
safe, relaxed comfortable environment can come into relationship with
God, through listening, discussing and exploring.
The
training of Chrisitan hosts and discussion group facilitators is vital
to ensure that everyone is striving for this culture.
Here are some training tips:
- Conduct your training six weeks to two months before you
start your course. Once your people understand the feel and the values
of what you are planning, they will be much more likely to invite their
friends.
- Run your explanation and
training session at the same venue and in the same style that you plan
to run the course, so that hosts become familiar with the routine and
aquaint themselves with the atmosphere. Consider it a dress rehearsal
and have a time for questions and comments during and at the end, to
welcome improvements that you can implement when you start the course
in six weeks time.
- On the Explanation
and Training DVD there are role play video clips to use when training
Table Facilitators, that illustrate what a discussion can be like
before and after training. The difference is very significant. In fact, the most dangerous person on an Introducing God course is the Christian who hasn't done the training!
