Beach baptisms on a life-changing weekend away.
Baptisms
by the beach were the order of the day for three new members of the
Christians in the Media congregation taking part in a life-changing
weekend away.
The beach-side getaway was part of an extraordinary work of God happening in the Sydney suburb of Annandale.
Six people were baptized on the last day of the Introducing God course,
just finished at the Annandale Community Anglican Church.
The church’s evening Christians in the Media congregation has jumped in
size from five small groups to nine, as a result of the course, with
each group having two to three new members.
Most of the baptisms were in the ocean at the Wollongong Surf and
Leisure Resort, where the course climaxed with it’s ‘The difference
Jesus makes’ weekend.
Ministry Leader (and Introducing God author) Dominic Steele says the
success of the program is bringing some welcome problems.
“As a ministry we are in the extraordinary situation of working to
enfold almost 25 new and almost Christians into our small group network
at the moment.”
The Annandale-based congregation is now working hard to make the
transition from Introducing God ‘guest’ to Bible Study ‘member’ as
seamless as possible.’
“We are trying to do this by having the table groups from Introducing
God stay almost the same, and have each group move from the central
venue into people’s lounge rooms.” said Mr Steele.
